About Art Foundation Mallorca

The mission of Art Foundation Mallorca is to buy contemporary art with the aim of making the most profitable collection of artworks within a time frame of five years. The works of art are analysed within fixed parameters, like shares or a company. Of course artworks always contain that additional element of unpredictability that characterises the creative force. But when it comes to rating raw talent, it is vital to have the right tools. That is why Art Foundation Mallorca is working with three leading experts on contemporary art, covering in particular the the Nordic, European, American and British art scenes. They share an expert knowledge of the mechanisms of the art market as well as a profound passion for art in general.

Asbæk Art Consulting is one of the companies which advise AFM on art purchases. It is owned by Patricia Asbæk who with her 40 years of experience and instinct for new art is well qualified as a consultant on buying and investing in art.

•   AAC offers assessments of artworks to facilitate the best possible acquisition and sale. There's inevitably a big difference between buyer's and seller's markets.
•   AAC can put together special exhibitions which reflect the particular brand or ideology of a company
•   AAC organises talks on understanding contemporary art.
•   AAC can put together an art collection in connection with an ongoing sale, a swift sale or a long-term sale.

We'll assess the work of art within certain fixed parameters: Who is the artist and how old is he? Which gallery represents him, which art fairs has his work been shown at and which collections are his works part of? The list is long. But a complete analysis of a number of elements is necessary for AAC to give a recommendation.

Art Foundation Mallorca in relation to CCA

CCA Andratx is a place where the best artists can compare their work.

The aim of CCA Andratx is to create the most beautiful setting and the ideal facilities, allowing the artist staying in one of the four studios to test his or her talent to the limit.

Interesting synergies occur when the resident artists inspire each other or use each other as critics. The odd granite table has been written off after a colleague's review. But at the end of a residency, everyone agrees it's been a fantastic experience. Today some of Europe's leading artists apply for residency with us. Clearly the dream of giving artists comfortable living conditions and an open and spiritual environment has been realised.

The driving forces behind the centre are the world class exhibitions that it hosts. Some of the world's most respected curators have organised exhibitions in the impressive rooms. CCA Andratx is an attractive place to have a show, even for world-famous names.

These conditions work in AFM's favour. Through CCA, AFM has direct access to the artists which would not be possible by traditional means. This enables AFM to buy masterpieces for our investment pool.
